Important Update on Tariff Impact & Pricing

Last week, President Trump reduced the Chinese import tariff rates from 145% to 30%. Currently the items that we are receiving from China are subject to 20% tariffs (which we have only increased by 8.5%). The 30% tariff will begin on May 27th and will be in effect for 90 days. Some specific items have tariffs even higher. As a result of the 30% tariff rates, we will have to increase our original pre-tariff prices by 13%. It is our intent only to increase our prices as we receive the new shipments that are subjected to tariffs.

Last year, in anticipation of potential tariffs we decided to increase the amount and timing of our purchases so that we would receive shipments before any possible new tariffs.  Our percentage of items with tariffs will be increasing as we receive new shipments. 

This tariff reduction has led to a rush of imports. Ocean freight rates are increasing daily and booking availability is being controlled and allocated.
